Art + Culture Retreat, Oaxaca, Mexico April 16-21 2026

This one is for the foodies, lovers of culture and artists at heart. Join Katya & Aaron Seymour for a 6 day/5 night retreat exploring the many wonders Oaxaca Mexico has to offer. This land bursts with flavor, tradition, diversity, culture and magic. This retreat is curated to inspire the artist within each one of us, and to connect to the local food scene and culture on a deep level. All  whilst honoring tradition and supporting local artisans. Our time will be split equally between relaxation and adventure, soaking up local flavors, and filling our cups with inspiration.

Come alone, bring your partner or friend, ALL ARE WELCOME.

Stay

Our group will be staying in a stunning Michelin guide boutique hotel right in the city center. A gorgeous, 18th century mansion renovated and decorated with traditional and botanical touches, plus lots of love and attention to detail. Featuring a stunning courtyard, antique fountain, beautiful hammocks, and lovely common areas for the group to relax and connect. Quiet and private, yet steps away from city action, bustling markets and endless art galleries. Quintessential Oaxaca.

Agenda

Each beautiful morning will begin with a yoga/movement practice & sound bath on the rooftop terrace boasting breathtaking views of the city and the mountain range. Followed by a delicious breakfast with all dietary whims catered to your preference. Each day will allow for ample time to explore and connect. With time split between relaxing  and exploring on your own, and thoughtful group activities + workshops, meant to ignite your creativity and awaken your senses.

Food + Culture

Oaxaca is warm, vibrant, inspired, and has long upheld the reputation of being Mexico’s heart beat when it comes to culture, art and flavor. Its colorful cobblestone streets are filled with Michelin star restaurants dishing out traditional and ancestral cuisine, art galleries, artisans selling handcrafted goods, markets of all kinds, and street food vendors with every treat imaginable.

We will enjoy 3 group dinners in some of the best restaurants in Oaxaca as well as indulge in a chocolate making class together.

Oaxaca is also known to be the proud capital of mezcal, producing more than 70% of mezcal in Mexico! Mezcal has been produced in Oaxaca since the pre-hispanic era. The ancient Aztecs revered the agave plant and extracted it’s sap for a fermented beverage used during ceremonies.

During our time in Oaxaca we will enjoy a guided mezcal tour and tasting, sampling the flavors of different mezcal varieties at a family owned distillery. Learning about fascinating techniques and different types of agave, and the labor intensive process that to this day supports the local economy.

All alcohol consumption optional. Non-alcoholic beverages and fermented local drinks will be available.

Art + Culture

In between wandering the stunning streets, shopping and sampling local flavors, we will visit heritage sites and take an art class with a local artisan who specializes in intricate beading.

Adventure

Oaxaca boasts not only architectural but natural wonders. Our group will be taking a trip to the stunning, otherworldly – Hievre El Agua. With the option for an active hike or to simply chill and enjoy a dip in the natural springs, amidst breathtaking scenery. Afterwards we will enjoy a fresh coconut and lunch on site.

For the spirit

As an optional ( but highly encouraged ) offering we will tend to the spirit through a Temazcal ceremony with local practitioners Raquel and Jose, who use a gentle approach and locally grown medicinal herbs from the mountains to reset, cleanse and recalibrate. A truly beautiful experience.
