Vibrational Sound Therapy
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.”
– Nicola Tesla
Sound healing has been used to soothe the mind and to balance the emotional body since the dawn of mankind. The ancients understood the power of musical vibration, in fact sound has been recognized and utilized by many cultures across the globe not only during sacred rituals but also for healing physical ailments. Sound in it’s many forms has always served as a tool for connection and a catalyst for transformation. Regardless of cultural origin and tradition, there is no denying that humans have always found immense connection through sound, not only to one another but also to something much greater than the eye can see.
Sound is primordial.
In many cultures it is believed that sound is the gateway into other realms and brings man closer to God.
Every single sound created carries a vibrational signature and intention of the creator. We use our voices and their power to command, nurture and inquire. Expressing whatever stirs within us, ranging from the most basic human needs to expression of creative musical genius.
“Music is moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.”
– Plato
Music never fails to evoke emotion, because it carries it. Hearing a song from your childhood or one associated with heartbreak can instantly affect you, waking up memories, no matter how dormant from the subconscious. I truly do believe that music is the closest thing we have to time travel.
But how does sound therapy actually work?
There are multiple ways to use sound for healing, as well as many tools and instruments including the human voice. To understand sound therapy at it’s core we need to touch on the concept of entrainment.
Every object in the world is in a constant state of vibration, vibrating at a rate specific to itself. Entrainment is essentially the phenomena of synchronicity, it’s a process during which two or more systems reach a state of rhythmic synchronization.
This type of entrainment also happens with our constantly fluctuating brainwaves. Therefore producing a frequency that is “beneficial” causes our brainwaves to adjust and match the higher, dominant vibration.
Each system and organ in our body has it’s own rhythm. In a balanced state everything works harmoniously in sync, like a marvelously orchestrated masterpiece. Stress, trauma and any level of un-ease causes disharmony, leading to physical as well as emotional discomfort. Our bodies are naturally hardwired towards harmony, but the stressors of modern life have many of us locked permanently in a state of fight or flight.
Sound used intentionally has the ability to affect us on a cellular level. Affecting our state of consciousness to bring upon deep states of relaxation in which healing can truly take place.

“You can look at disease as a form of disharmony. And there’s no organ system in the body that is not affected by sound and music and vibration.”
– Mitchell Gaynor, M.D., “Sounds of Healing”
I like to believe that each one of us is a melody, unique just like our fingerprints. And as the world around us gets loud we become entrained in a rather negative way. Our own melody becomes faint and sometimes we forget it altogether. Sound as medicine is also a way of remembering ourselves, tuning back in, returning to our own essence.
This work is a prayer. It is sacred as it belongs to all of humanity and always has, belief systems aside.
Our healing is our responsibility, after all, whether we like it or not.
There is comfort in knowing that the healing journey itself doesn’t have to be lonely or linear, we can walk it together learning from each other along the way.
Are you interested in sound as a healing modality? I would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.

It’s all that and more. I’ve learned a lot about sounds and vibration at higher levels. I know that even deaf people can “hear” because of vibration. And who doesn’t use sound to match their”mood”? Whether turning it up or turning it off. Sound has always been a way for me to express myself and I am learning it’s other healing properties. I’m glad that not everyone believes modern medicine is the only way and that there are others (Katya) willing to help you find your unique way and sound.
